Unit 17- World War II- Prelude to War

Use the tiki-toki.com timeline The Build up to American Entry into World War II to familiarize yourself with world events that brought the United States into World War II.  Take notes accordingly.  How did the United States act, as European and Asian events developed?

Then watch the following clip from the US Government produced, Frank Capra film Prelude to War.

This film is one of several in Capra's Why We Fight series.  While Capra is better known for films such as It's a Wonderful Lifepropaganda film series, commissioned by the Office of War Information (OWI) and George C. Marshall. It was made to convince American troops of the necessity of combating the Axis Powers during World War II. The film was based on the idea that those in the service would be more willing and able fighters if they knew the background and reason for their participation in the war. It was later released to the general American public as a rallying cry for support of the war.
